This result is definitely what we got when we met B and B on a Sunday afternoon in DUMBO. They specifically chose this location as it is very close to their neighborhood and they –like us — really enjoyed the vibrant, beautiful colors and buzzing vibe this place has to offer. I know I’ve said this time and time again, but we really do end up meeting the sweetest, most fun and down to earth people EVER during our e-shoots and B and B were that and more. They were so pleasant, jovial, and easy to talk to, with seriously one of the most beautiful and contagious smiles we’ve seen to date. Our session started at the Carousel and continued on in the beautiful cobblestone streets of this neighborhood. Somewhere in between riding electric horses and walking, we noticed a food festival, walked in and discovered the BEST Colombian arepas I’ve ever tasted! This is not a fact that I am proud of as I married into a very Colombian family! We continued strolling the streets of DUMBO and snapping; the usual, stroll- talk –laugh- snap- sequence that is now a solid staple of all of our sessions.
B and B are getting married this August in their (and my) beloved Brooklyn. We wish them the best on their special day and a lifetime of happiness and love!
Last year we contemplated the idea of including a photobooth with our photography package, but had no clue how to go about it! I thought of so many set ups, researched online, and eventually tossed idea after idea as nothing I saw came close to what I wanted to offer — good quality and INSTANT PRINTS.
So for a year I continued to contemplate, research and read. I bought some real nice and unique props, purchased a good printer, used my old studio setup and one of the many backdrops I already owned…lol…made a visit to Ikea, had our original logo designer come up with a nice little logo and came up with a name for our booth. Lastly and most importantly, I got together with the best team I can probably have to run the booth, my own family.
Last weekend while I was running behind my wonderful couple — Angie, Chanel and Tito, set up shop and made what once was just a silly idea, come to life!…As you can see this not really your conventional booth inside a box and I actually prefer it this way. It definitely gives people more room to squeeze in. Anyway, we still have some tweaking to do but we wouldn’t know what to fix without knowing what’s broken first right? Trial and error is your best teacher.
Can’t wait for the next wedding that we get to use our cool kick ass photobooth in!
I’d like to take a second to thank Alice + Matt, as well as their fun guests for taking full advantage and enjoying our PhotoHoot® !
Meet Luis + Mariella. The story of how these two lovebirds came to us is pretty common nowadays — social media. Elkin and Luis are both members of an online community. Luis happened to see Elkin’s photography work on this community and liked it and the rest is the result of this post. We had to reschedule this session twice before it finally happened. First, we were set to shoot on the Sunday before the arrival of Hurricane Sandy. Not knowing how the weather would react just a day before this storm, we decided to play it safe and reschedule to the week after. Of course, that also didn’t happen because of the terrible and very ugly aftermath of the storm on the Downtown Manhattan/Brooklyn area. We scheduled a third time and of course, this was the charm. When we finally met, we were blessed with the most ridiculously beautiful fall day — ever! So beautiful in fact, that it made all that rescheduling well worth it. Luis mentioned to Elkin that he liked color and we couldn’t think of a more vibrant and colorful neighborhood than DUMBO Brooklyn! With its amazing graffiti and artwork all over, bright brick walls, cobblestone roads, and a super cool and buzzing vibe, it seemed like the perfect place for this shoot. This section of Brooklyn is sort of a little favorite of ours so we were even more excited to shoot here! Luis and Mariela were awesome! They were game for anything! I.e. The motorcycle in one of the pictures you’ll see does NOT belong to either of us four! LOL. We had so much fun during this session. Lots of conversations, some heart stopping moments — at least for Mariella and me — and even some carousel riding!
