Hey guys, so i think its time I dedicate some time to write out a few essential things you’ll need to know prior to coming for your maternity session. I tend to give all my moms these instructions, so instead of having to write out a detailed set of instructions everytime, why not just direct you guys to this page 🙂 Ill use some examples from our previous maternity sessions to paint a clearer picture.
-What should I wear to my maternity session?
Maternity jeans (preferably a very dark indigo or a light stonewashed color), a white top of your choice, preferably a simple white teeshirt or a tank
Black leggins/tights and a black strapless bra, if you are uncomfortable with just the bra, you can also use a black tee shirt are an essential part of your session.
If you own a shawl or something similar, id strongly suggest you bring it, as it makes for a great accessory to have during your session
These are just the few pieces of clothing that i find to be pretty essential, if you have no clue as to what else to bring, at least make sure you have these in your bag of goods. Do not feel limited to just this, I always encourage my moms to do a little bit of research, we live in a google world, just type in MATERNITY PHOTOGRAPHY and search for images, plenty of inspiration there, ill provide a list of places online you can go to for inspiration at the end of this walkthrough 🙂
-What if I want semi-nude/nude shots?
My approach on these type of shots is very simple and done in very well taste, I will not be exposing you and you will have all the privacy nessesary during your shoot. I always encourage moms to come with a relative, perhaps a sister, cousin, mom or even a best friend, whoever you think will make your experience the most comfortable and enjoyable possible, In addition Angie is usually there to help with the posing while i just do the shooting, teamwork at its finest!
In order to provide the best possible semi-nude/nude shots, I recommend you bring either seamless or lace underwear, preferably in a color that closely matches your complexion, black lace also work great…in addition i suggest to my moms “pasties”…this will give you room to move around without feeling like you are completely exposed. A picture speaks 1000 words like the saying goes.
the seamless nude color undies makes it alot simpler for me to delete in photoshop to give off the impression of being completely nude
