Wedding : Stephanie + Alex @ The Bridgewater Manor — Bridgewater, NJ

Hello Friends,
Meet Stephanie + Alex. This beautiful couple tied the knot this past November, making their affair our final wedding of the season. And seriously, I can’t even begin explaining what an incredibly season finale that was for us! Talk about going out with a bang! Lol. From the fun times the couple shared with their bridal party during their time getting ready, to the nerves and excitement visible during their first look, Stephanie and Alex’s wedding day was full of love, laughter, tender moments and too much fun. There were moments shared between the couple where I seriously found myself holding back tears. There were even more moments where I desperately wished there was a spare bridesmaid dress somewhere just so I could join their wedding party! Stephanie and Alex have a son, and the bond they share with him is beyond precious. This super sweet and down to earth couple has looked forward to their wedding day for a long time and were beyond excited to start their lives as husband and wife.
We are so grateful to Stephanie and Alex for allowing us to be a part of their perfect day and wish them both a lifetime of love and happiness!

Awesome day ! We had so much fun that day. Everything was perfect, Stephanie and Alex were looking impeccable, the food was a delicacy, the venue was marvelous. In general I could state that this wedding was the best one I had ever attended..
Congratulations!

A day with the Bloom’s | Brooklyn, NY

Hi Friends!

We are taking a quick detour from our beloved wedding posts to share this super sweet family session that Elkin photographed a few weeks ago. I have been in touch with Adriana for a little while ago. She first contacted us through our Facebook page about doing a newborn session for her sweet, now 7 month old daughter Jade. This was right around the time that we decided to stop photographing newborns. I told Adriana that we would love to reconnect with her around Jade’s 6th month mark when she was able to sit on her own. Sure enough at that time she reached out and we finally settled on a date. We had agreed to the shoot at her house. Elkin’s had an idea about doing a lifestyle family session for a while now. He pretty much wanted to document “a day in their life”. The Bloom’s have a pretty awesome place, which also has access to an awesome rooftop. With the unseasonably warm December weather, we decided to shoot up to the rooftop and take some photos highlighting an amazing NYC skyline. Here are a few photos from that day!

Thank you Josh + Adriana! We had such a fun time with your beautiful family!

Hi Shonda! thaanks for dropping by!

Im a self taught photog and pretty much have learned from trial and error and practice, so is hard for me to recommend a book, but i can tell you what ive learned over the years, although equipment doesnt make the photographer, it sure helps….when shooting indoors and not much light is available, is good to have a camera that handles ISO well, has a good AF system and a good fast lenses paired up wouldnt hurt either….often times we are limited by our gear specially when shooting indoors and available light is just not enough. Dont be afraid to use a flash, alot of the shots in this post where done with flash, simply bounced backwards, I used to think this was common knowledge but ive come to find out alot of photographers dont really bounce, bouncing backwards off a wall creates an all around bleed of fill light, now if you have white walls and ceilings you are golden. Avoid shooting facing a window, instead shoot with the windows behind you and use the light bleeding through the windows in your favor. If the light bleeding in is too direct, use the curtains as diffusers, or simply carry your own foldable diffuser. If all else fails, keep in mind that alot of these images you see that evenly lit, are also edited, shadows/highlights adjust, ambient light, etc. ULTIMATELY take whatever light is available and use it to your advantage, dont fight against it….hope that makes sense! :)

Hi there! I was the one that commented on this session on Instagram. So my question is about indoor lifestyle photography. It is my dream to begin shooting these sessions here in Colorado. I cannot for the life of me find any information about how to perfect (as much as possible) the lighting and getting exactly what I want my pictures to look like indoors. Did you use any books or any other information to help you get to where you are with your indoor natural light photography? If so would you be willing to share with me. I look on the Internet and YouTube for indoor natural light photography but can barely find anything. I understand that it can be the camera body and lens I have as well. Thank you so much and once again I am so glad I have found your work, you are truly an inspiration!!!

Wedding : Lauren + Joe @ Meadow Wood Manor

Hello!

And it happened. Lauren and Joe’s special day happened. I make a big deal about that because I remember thinking their wedding day was so far away! We met Lauren and Joe well over a year away from their wedding date and I remember emailing Lauren throughout the year with some sort of crazy countdown. Lauren and Joe’s wedding was one of the most fun weddings we’ve been to this year. I think a big part of that is because Lauren and Joe are simply fun, fun people! (Don’t believe me? See for yoursef!) as are their families and friends. They are the type of people who make your job as a photographer insanely easy because they just give you the shots you want. You know, the ones where they are being themselves, completely engrossed in their conversation, their own little private joke, each other and sort of forget you exist? Yeah. Thanks for that guys! They were blessed with a nearly perfect autumn day which made for pretty amazing pictures.

Thank you Lauren + Joe for allowing us to be a part of your wonderful day! We wish you both a lifetime of happiness and endless fun moments!

Wedding : Melissa + John

Hi World!

Meet John and Melissa! Together, they are an awesome combination of short, [really] tall, super sweet and friendly, easy-going and too much fun! We met this awesome duo at our crossfit box — Crossfit Gotham: STAND UP! And like everyone there, they were nice enough to make us feel welcomed and at home right away. I am not exactly sure when it happened, but casually around the time they were looking for a photographer for their wedding, Melissa found out that Elkin WAS a wedding photographer – pretty awesome coincidence if I may say so myself! Soon enough, we were discussing wedding day details over passion tea lemonades at Starbucks and even sooner after, it was AUGUST 16TH – their wedding day. I could write a lot about their day, it was all so beautiful and a lot of fun. Seriously, too much fun! This entire bridal party, bride and groom included, just know to party. From the hotel, to the limo, to the reception, music and laughter was present everywhere. As much as I laughed, I wanted to cry! Seriously, lots of choking back tears during the first look and more during their ceremony! Three days ago, they celebrated their two-month anniversary, and we are wishing them all the love, happiness and blessings we wish them then! Thank you both for allowing Elkin and I to be a part of your special day! It will remain in our hearts forever!
